MAS proto-oncogene receptor (MASR)

Target
MASR
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor

Overview

The MAS proto-oncogene receptor (MASR), also known as MAS1, is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) activated by angiotensin-(1–7). It is involved in vasodilation, anti-proliferative actions, anti-inflammatory responses, cardioprotection, and regulation of glucose homeostasis. The ACE2-Ang-(1–7)-MAS axis plays an important role in cardiovascular health and disease modulation such as myocardial remodeling and cancer progression. MASR acts as a functional antagonist to AGTR1.
