Overview

Mas-related G-protein coupled receptor member F (MRGPRF), also known as GPR140 or GPR168, is an orphan member of the Class A G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that lacks identified endogenous ligands. It is suggested to bind neuropeptides and may play roles in the modulation and development of nociceptors, implicating a potential function in pain and itch sensation or modulation[3][4][1]. MRGPRF has also been implicated as a tumor suppressor in preclinical melanoma models, where overexpression suppressed cell proliferation and migration via inhibition of the Akt signaling pathway[2]. The receptor is part of the rapidly-evolving MAS-related GPCR family, which displays unique structural diversity and shallow binding pockets, and is generally considered a potential therapeutic target due to its broad biological effects and involvement in neuroimmune communication[1].
