Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-functional Mas-related G protein-coupled receptor homologue

Overview

MAS related GPR family member X7, pseudogene (MRGPRX7P) is a non-functional gene within the Mas-related G protein-coupled receptor (MRGPR) family. Unlike active family members such as MRGPRX1, MRGPRX2, MRGPRX3, and MRGPRX4, MRGPRX7P is defined as a pseudogene—meaning it has a disrupted coding sequence and does not produce a functional receptor protein. Pseudogenes generally arise through gene duplication or mutations (such as frame-shifts or truncations) during evolution that render them inactive[3][5]. There is no evidence that MRGPRX7P encodes a targetable receptor or participates in any physiological or pathological processes. Therefore, it is not considered a druggable or therapeutic target, nor does it have known pharmacological relevance.
