01

Overview

Matrin 3 pseudogene 3 (MATR3P3) is a non-functional copy of the matrin 3 gene, present within the human genome as a result of gene duplication or other mechanisms[1][5]. Pseudogenes like MATR3P3 do not code for functional proteins and are not considered therapeutic targets such as receptors, enzymes, or transporters. The functional gene, matrin 3 (MATR3), codes for a nuclear matrix protein involved in RNA binding, mRNA stabilization, and the regulation of gene expression[1][2][3][5]; however, the pseudogene does not participate in these biological processes. There is no evidence that MATR3P3 has direct involvement in disease, drug interaction, biomarker status, or therapeutic relevance.

Mechanism of action

None

03

Biological functions

None (pseudogene; does not encode a functional product)
04

Disease associations

None directly attributable (pseudogenes are, by definition, not associated with protein function or direct disease roles, unless they have regulatory or competing RNA activity, which is not described for MATR3P3)
