Matrix metalloproteinase 14 (MMP14), also known as MT1-MMP, is a membrane-bound enzyme that plays a central role in extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling and cellular migration. It cleaves various ECM components and activates pro-MMP2, facilitating ECM degradation. MMP14 is involved in normal physiological processes such as embryonic development and tissue remodeling, but also plays roles in pathological conditions such as arthritis and cancer metastasis.
Inhibition of MMP14 enzymatic activity, disruption of interactions with other cell surface molecules, or blocking its expression.
