MAX antisense RNA 1 (MAX-AS1) is classified as a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand of the MAX gene. There is no evidence in the current biomedical literature to support that MAX-AS1 acts as a canonical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar molecule. While the gene is listed in genomic databases, there are no substantial reports describing its biological function, involvement in disease, or utility as a therapeutic target or biomarker[4].
