MCTP1 antisense RNA 1 (MCTP1-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA transcribed antisense to the protein-coding gene MCTP1. It is downregulated in endometrial cancer tissues and cell lines. Overexpression of MCTP1-AS1 inhibits cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and the EMT process in endometrial cancer cells, and exerts this effect by targeting the miR-650/SMAD7 axis, which regulates the TGF-β/SMAD signaling pathway and affects cancer metastasis and progression[8][7]. As a member of the antisense lncRNA class, it functions by regulating gene expression, predominantly at the post-transcriptional level, and may serve as a biomarker in cancer diagnostics and research but is not currently targeted by approved drugs[7][8].
