Overview

The Measles virus F glycoprotein (Fusion protein) is a critical envelope protein of the measles virus. It mediates the fusion of viral and host cell membranes, enabling viral entry and infection. The functional form on the virion surface is a homotrimer and structural rearrangements are required for membrane fusion. It is considered the first critical step for measles virus infection.
