Mechanistic Target of Rapamycin Kinase Complex 2 (mTORC2)

Target
mTORC2
Molecular classification
Protein Kinase Complex, Serine/Threonine Kinase
01

Overview

Mechanistic target of rapamycin kinase complex 2 (mTORC2) is a multi-subunit protein complex that functions as a serine/threonine kinase. It is one of two distinct complexes formed by the mTOR protein, the other being mTORC1. Unlike mTORC1, mTORC2 is acutely insensitive to rapamycin and plays critical roles in regulating cell proliferation, survival, metabolism, and cytoskeletal organization.
