Overview

MED4 antisense RNA 1 (MED4-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene transcribed from the opposite strand of the MED4 gene locus on human chromosome 13[1][3][8]. Like other natural antisense transcripts, MED4-AS1 does not code for a protein but is thought to function in the regulation of gene expression, potentially by forming RNA duplexes with sense transcripts (such as MED4 mRNA) and influencing their stability, processing, or translation[1][4]. There are currently no established direct links between MED4-AS1 and specific diseases, no evidence that it functions as a canonical therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter), and no reports of drugs that interact with MED4-AS1. Its main molecular classification is as a long non-coding antisense RNA, and its presumed biological role is the regulation of gene expression at the RNA level.
