Overview

The **medial pectoral nerve** is a peripheral motor nerve that arises from the medial cord of the brachial plexus, with fibers originating from the C8 and T1 spinal roots[1][4][7]. It supplies motor innervation to both the pectoralis minor muscle and the sternocostal portion of the pectoralis major muscle. The nerve typically passes posterior to the axillary artery, then curves anteriorly between the axillary artery and vein before entering and perforating the pectoralis minor. Some branches continue on to supply portions of pectoralis major[1][2][4]. Damage to this nerve can result in weakness or inability to elevate the shoulder due to impaired function of these muscles[4]. **Note:** The medial pectoral nerve is an anatomical structure—a peripheral somatic motor nerve—not a molecular therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or ion channel. It does not have known direct drug interactions nor is it targeted by pharmaceuticals in clinical practice. Its relevance is primarily surgical/anatomical rather than pharmacological or molecular[1][2][5].
