MED13P1 is a pseudogene associated with the gene for Mediator complex subunit 13 (MED13), which encodes a component of the mediator complex—a multi-protein coactivator essential for transcriptional regulation by RNA polymerase II[1][7]. However, as a pseudogene, MED13P1 does not encode a functional protein product and has no established biological function, disease role, or relevance as a therapeutic target. Most literature, including disease associations and therapeutic interests, refer to the functional MED13 gene or its paralogs (such as MED13L), not to MED13P1. Pseudogenes may play regulatory roles at the RNA level, but there is currently no evidence MED13P1 serves such a function.
