Overview

Megakaryocyte-associated tyrosine kinase pseudogene (ENSG00000267148) is a processed pseudogene related to the protein-coding gene MATK, which encodes the functional megakaryocyte-associated tyrosine kinase[5][1]. Like other pseudogenes, it shares high sequence similarity with its parent gene but does not encode a functional protein due to disruptions such as premature stop codons or frameshift mutations[3]. Pseudogenes can be transcribed as non-coding RNAs, which may play regulatory roles in gene expression, typically functioning at low abundance and with tissue specificity, but their exact biological impact is largely uncharacterized[3]. There is no evidence that this pseudogene functions as a therapeutic target or encodes a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar molecule, and there are no known drugs that act on it[5][3]. The protein-coding parental gene ("MATK") belongs to the tyrosine kinase family, but the pseudogene itself is not an active kinase and should not be confused with its functional counterpart[5][2].
