Overview

Meiosis regulator for oocyte development (MIOS) is a protein-coding gene, highly conserved, and a component of the GATOR2 complex, which is involved in the regulation of the mTORC1 pathway in response to amino acid availability[2][3]. It plays roles in cellular response to amino acid starvation, localization of protein complexes, and has a positive regulatory effect on TOR signaling. Although its name implies involvement in oocyte meiosis regulation, functional annotation in human and mouse points to broader roles in cell growth and metabolic regulation[1][2][3][4]. There are currently no approved drugs targeting MIOS, nor is MIOS established as a therapeutic target. Its molecular family is best described as a WD repeat-containing protein and a component of multiprotein regulatory complexes[2].
