Melanocortin receptor 5 (MC5R) is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that binds melanocyte-stimulating hormones (α-, β-, γ-MSH) and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). It is widely expressed in both central nervous system and peripheral tissues, including sebaceous glands, skeletal muscle, and adipose tissue.
