Target intelligence / Profile preview
Melanoma-associated antigen 12 (MAGEA12) is a cancer/testis antigen encoded by the MAGEA12 gene. Its expression is normally restricted to germ cells in the testis but is aberrantly activated in various cancers. MAGEA12 functions as an oncogene, promoting cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumorigenicity, in part by repressing tumor suppressor genes like p21. It represents a potential biomarker and immunotherapeutic target in several malignancies.
