Overview

Melanoma-associated antigen A4 (MAGE-A4) is a protein encoded by the MAGEA4 gene. It belongs to the cancer/testis antigen (CTA) family and is aberrantly expressed in various tumors while having restricted expression in normal adult tissues. MAGE-A4 regulates cell proliferation, inhibits G1 arrest, and modulates the p53 pathway. Due to its expression profile and immunogenicity, it is an attractive target for cancer immunotherapy, with vaccines and adoptive T-cell therapies being developed.
