Target intelligence / Profile preview

Melanoma-associated antigen A9 (MAGEA9)

Target
MAGEA9
Molecular classification
Cancer-testis antigen
01

Overview

MAGEA9 is a member of the MAGE family of cancer-testis antigens, normally expressed in testis and placenta but frequently aberrantly expressed in a wide range of tumors. It contributes to stemness properties in liver cancer stem cells and is correlated with resistance to chemotherapy-induced apoptosis. Overexpression is associated with poor clinical outcomes, making it a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for cancer.
