Target intelligence / Profile preview

Melanoma-associated antigen C2 (MAGEC2)

Target
MAGEC2
Molecular classification
Cancer-testis antigen (CTA), Type I MAGE family member, Oncogene
01

Overview

Melanoma-associated antigen C2 (MAGEC2) is a cancer-testis antigen belonging to the MAGE family. It is normally expressed only in testis but is aberrantly expressed in various tumors. MAGEC2 functions as an oncogene, promoting proliferation, survival, and EMT, and plays a role in DNA repair. It is considered a potential target for cancer immunotherapy.

Safety considerations

Restricted expression pattern (testis only in normal tissues) allows for targeted immunotherapy, but potential for off-target effects should be considered.Associated with aggressive disease features (increased proliferation, chemoresistance, metastasis).
