Melanoma-associated antigen H1 (MAGEH1) is a protein encoded by the MAGEH1 gene, a member of the non-CT (non cancer/testis) subgroup of the melanoma-associated antigen (MAGE) superfamily[5]. It is thought to be involved in apoptosis and is predicted to participate in the negative regulation of transcription mediated by RNA polymerase II[1][2][3]. The protein is primarily localized to the nucleus, with nuclear expression reported in most tissues[4]. While the MAGE family is broadly implicated in cancer biology, there is currently limited evidence supporting a direct role for MAGEH1 as a therapeutic drug target or biomarker in disease; consequently, no specific interacting drugs, clinical biomarkers, or safety concerns are documented for this protein[1][2][3][4][5][7]. MAGEH1 can interact with the low affinity nerve growth factor receptor, but the mechanistic implications are not fully characterized[1].
