Target intelligence / Profile preview
Melanoma-associated antigen MART-1 (Melan-A) is a melanocyte lineage-specific protein antigen expressed on normal melanocytes and melanoma cells. It plays a crucial role in melanosome biogenesis and serves as a target antigen for cytotoxic T lymphocytes, making it a valuable target for melanoma immunotherapy. It is also used as a diagnostic marker for melanocytic tumors.
MART-1 peptides are presented on MHC molecules and recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocytes, leading to targeted cell death of melanoma cells.
