Meloidogyne javanica is a species of tropical root-knot nematode and a significant plant pathogen that causes substantial yield losses in a wide variety of crops worldwide [7, 12]. As an obligate endoparasite, it infects plant roots and induces the formation of characteristic galls or knots, which result from the development of multinucleated 'giant cells' that serve as a specialized nutrient source for the nematode [7, 9]. M. javanica is not a single molecular target like a receptor or enzyme, but rather an organismal pathogen targeted by various chemical and biological nematicides [2, 5]. Management strategies involve the use of chemical agents such as fluensulfone, which causes irreversible paralysis, and abamectin, which targets glutamate-gated chloride channels in the nematode's nervous system [5, 6]. Modern agricultural biotechnology research focuses on disrupting specific molecular mechanisms, such as nematode-secreted effectors (e.g., Mj2G02) and essential proteins (e.g., 16D10), to develop resistant transgenic crop varieties [9, 12].
