They are implicated in the pathophysiology of cancer, cardiovascular disease, inflammation, neurodegenerative disorders, and infection because they function as portals for pathogen entry, modulate immune responses, and influence cell death pathways[3][6][7]. However, as a membrane structure and not a classical drug target (like a receptor, enzyme, or transporter), membrane lipid rafts are not directly "targetable" by traditional small molecule drugs—their therapeutic targeting remains an area of research rather than routine practice[5][9]. **Note:** Lipid rafts are **not a druggable protein, receptor, or enzyme**, but rather biophysical membrane domains. Listing them as a therapeutic target is incorrect—they are important in cell biology and disease but not a single, defined molecular target analogous to established drug targets[5][9].
