Target intelligence / Profile preview
Membrane progesterone receptor beta (mPRβ), also known as PAQR8, is a member of the membrane progesterone receptor family. It mediates rapid, non-genomic actions of progesterone, distinct from those mediated by classical nuclear progesterone receptors. mPRβ plays a role in neurite outgrowth and respiratory control, particularly in brainstem neurons involved in ventilatory chemoreflexes. It binds progesterone with high affinity and signals through pathways independent of canonical G protein-coupled receptor signaling.
Binds progesterone, leading to non-genomic signaling effects, including ERK phosphorylation and modulation of neuronal activity.
