Overview

MEMO1 pseudogene 3 (MEMO1P3) is a processed pseudogene of the MEMO1 gene located in the human genome. Unlike the protein-coding MEMO1 gene (Mediator of cell motility 1), MEMO1P3 does not encode a functional protein and is not believed to participate directly in cellular signaling pathways. Pseudogenes may have regulatory functions, such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) that modulate the availability of microRNAs for other transcripts, but there are no specific reports of MEMO1P3 having such activity. MEMO1P3 is therefore not considered a relevant therapeutic target, enzyme, transporter, or receptor, nor is it implicated as a biomarker or in drug interactions. Its main clinical or biological significance remains undefined, and it is primarily annotated as a non-functional genomic element.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable.

03

Biological functions

Possible competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) function, potentially acting as a miRNA sponge influencing post-transcriptional regulation, but direct evidence for MEMO1P3 specifically is lacking.
04

Disease associations

None established specifically for MEMO1P3. Pseudogenes in general have emerging links to regulatory roles in diseases, especially cancer and cardiovascular diseases, but no evidence supports a direct role for MEMO1P3.
