MEMO1P4 (MEMO1 pseudogene 4) is a non-coding pseudogene related to the functional MEMO1 gene, which encodes mediator of cell motility 1. Unlike the protein-coding MEMO1, MEMO1P4 does not produce a functional protein and has no recognized biological or clinical significance by itself. Pseudogenes like MEMO1P4 are segments of DNA that resemble genes but are generally nonfunctional due to mutations or lack of necessary regulatory elements. All known functional activities—including roles in cancer cell motility, metastasis, iron/copper metabolism, and redox signaling—are attributable to the protein-coding gene MEMO1, not to MEMO1P4[1][2][3][5].
