Target intelligence / Profile preview
Memory-effector T lymphocytes (TEM) are a subset of memory T cells specialized for rapid and robust responses upon re-exposure to antigens. Primed for immediate effector function, they quickly migrate to inflamed tissues, producing cytokines and cytotoxic molecules to clear pathogens. Unlike central memory T cells, TEM circulate mainly in peripheral blood and nonlymphoid tissues, enabling swift responses at sites of infection or damage. While crucial for long-term immunity, their dysregulation can contribute to chronic inflammatory diseases or autoimmunity.
