Mesenchymal Epithelial Transition Factor Receptor Kinase (MET)

Target
MET
Molecular classification
Receptor, Receptor Tyrosine Kinase
01

Overview

The mesenchymal epithelial transition factor receptor kinase (MET), also known as c-Met, is a receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a crucial role in cellular processes such as cell growth, proliferation, motility, survival, morphogenesis, and tissue regeneration. Aberrant activation of MET is implicated in cancer progression and metastasis. MET is activated by its ligand, hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), leading to downstream signaling through the PI3K/Akt, MAPK, and STAT pathways. Therapeutic strategies targeting MET include tyrosine kinase inhibitors and monoclonal antibodies against HGF or MET.
