Target intelligence / Profile preview
Metallothionein 1 pseudogene 3 (MT1P3) is a pseudogene member of the metallothionein family, located within the cluster of metallothionein genes and pseudogenes in humans. Unlike functional metallothioneins (which regulate metal homeostasis and mediate defense against heavy metal toxicity), MT1P3 does not encode a functional protein and therefore has no established biological role or therapeutic relevance. The metallothionein gene family includes several pseudogenes such as MT1P3. These are remnants of once-functional genes that have lost their protein-coding ability and are not implicated in drug discovery or disease biology.
