Target intelligence / Profile preview
Methamphetamine is a synthetic stimulant drug with a high potential for addiction and abuse. It acts primarily by increasing synaptic concentrations of monoamine neurotransmitters—dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin—by promoting their release from presynaptic neurons and inhibiting their reuptake. It is used medically for ADHD and obesity but is primarily encountered as a drug of abuse.
