METAP2 pseudogene 1 (METAP2P1), also known as Lnc-ZEB2-19, is annotated as a pseudogene of the methionine aminopeptidase 2 gene (METAP2), and may encode a long non-coding RNA. Pseudogenes such as METAP2P1 typically arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and, by definition, do not produce functional proteins. While the canonical METAP2 gene encodes a metalloenzyme involved in protein maturation, METAP2P1 has no known protein product or direct enzymatic function[5]. Lnc-ZEB2-19 (as an alias) suggests possible alternative non-coding RNA roles, but there are no established molecular functions, disease associations, or drug interactions for this pseudogene. If you are interested in the functional enzyme, reference should be made to the “Methionine aminopeptidase 2” (METAP2), not the pseudogene[1][3][5].
