Methyl-CpG-binding domain protein 3-like 5 (MBD3L5)

Target
MBD3L5
Molecular classification
Other, Putative methyl-CpG-binding protein, Predicted chromatin-associated protein
01

Overview

Methyl-CpG-binding domain protein 3-like 5 (MBD3L5) is a predicted methyl-CpG DNA-binding protein of the MBD family. It is thought to facilitate DNA methylation-dependent regulation of gene expression, likely participating in heterochromatin formation and negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. MBD3L5 is predicted to localize to the nucleus. There are no well-established molecular functions, binding partners, or disease mechanisms documented, and it is not presently considered a therapeutic target. Evidence for its biological role is primarily based on sequence similarity and computational predictions, not direct functional or biochemical experiments.
