MTHFD2P2 is a pseudogene related to the methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase 2 (MTHFD2) gene family. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are nonfunctional; they arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events. Any scientific or pharmaceutical interest in folate metabolism or cancer generally refers to the actual MTHFD2 enzyme (not the pseudogene MTHFD2P2)[2][4].
