Methyltransferase like 26 (METTL26) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16 in humans (previously designated C16orf13), encoding a putative methyltransferase. METTL26 is a member of the methyltransferase superfamily based on sequence similarity and phylogenetic analysis, but its precise molecular function, substrate specificity, and biological role have not been fully elucidated. It is expressed in several tissues and upregulated in various cancers, but no direct link to well-defined disease or drug response is established.
