METTL1 pseudogene 1 is a non-protein-coding pseudogene on human chromosome X, sharing sequence similarity with METTL1 (Methyltransferase 1, tRNA methylguanosine), an enzyme that catalyzes N7-methylguanosine modifications on tRNAs, mRNAs, and miRNAs[1][2][3][4]. Unlike its parent gene, METTL1P1 does not produce a functional protein, and there is no evidence it plays an active role in normal physiology or pathology. It is not considered a therapeutic target and should not be conflated with METTL1, which participates in RNA metabolism and is implicated in cancer and other diseases[1][2][3][4].
