Unlike its functional parent gene METTL5, which is a bona fide RNA methyltransferase involved in 18S rRNA modification and translation regulation, METTL5P3 lacks coding potential and is not involved in catalysis, signaling, or disease processes[5]. There are no known biomarkers, interacting drugs, or therapeutic mechanisms associated with METTL5P3.
