Target intelligence / Profile preview
MGAT3 antisense RNA 1 (MGAT3-AS1), also known as TapSAKI, is an intronic long non-coding RNA originating from the RP5-1104E15.6 locus on chromosome 22, transcribed antisense to the MGAT3 (beta-1,4-mannosyl-glycoprotein 4-beta-N-acetylglucosaminyl transferase) gene[1]. TapSAKI shows upregulation in plasma of patients with acute kidney injury and is enriched in renal tubular epithelial cells under stress, particularly ATP depletion[1][2]. It is notable for serving as an independent predictor of 28-day survival in AKI, suggesting clinical utility as a prognostic biomarker but not as a direct therapeutic target[1][2]. No interacting drugs or established mechanisms of pharmaceutical targeting are recognized. TapSAKI represents a non-protein-coding RNA entity, mainly functioning in gene regulation under kidney injury stress[1][2]. No notable safety concerns or therapeutic challenges for TapSAKI as a direct pharmacological target are reported in current literature.
