MIA-RAB4B readthrough transcript (MIA-RAB4B)

Target
MIA-RAB4B
Molecular classification
Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA), Competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA)
01

Overview

MIA-RAB4B is a readthrough long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) resulting from transcriptional continuation across the MIA and RAB4B genes on chromosome 19q13. This lncRNA functions as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA), capable of titrating away micro-RNA-24, thereby facilitating the upregulation of oncogenes such as PIM2 and TAOK1. Experimental studies have shown that MIA-RAB4B is upregulated in certain colorectal polyps, and this upregulation may contribute to tumorigenesis by derepressing critical downstream targets involved in cell growth and survival. While MIA-RAB4B is implicated in cancer-related molecular mechanisms, it is not a classical drug target (e.g., receptor, enzyme).
