MICOS10 divergent transcript (MICOS10-DT) is a long noncoding RNA found on chromosome 1, divergent from the coding gene MICOS10. Its function is currently unknown, and scientific literature does not describe specific molecular activities or disease associations for MICOS10-DT. The transcript is distinct from the MICOS10 gene product, a protein required for the organization and function of the mitochondrial cristae. MICOS10 deficiency in humans is associated with mitochondrial hepatopathy and neuropathy, but these are linked to the protein, not the lncRNA[1][2]. No drugs or biomarkers are associated with MICOS10-DT, and it is not considered a standard therapeutic target. Critical Note: There may be confusion between MICOS10-DT (lncRNA) and the nearby coding gene MICOS10, which is involved in mitochondrial structure/function and disease. MICOS10-DT itself is not currently validated as a drug target or a mediator of disease mechanisms[1][2].
