MICOS10-NBL1 readthrough is a protein-coding locus produced by naturally occurring transcriptional readthrough between the upstream gene MICOS10 (mitochondrial contact site and cristae organizing system subunit 10) and the downstream gene NBL1 (neuroblastoma suppressor of tumorigenicity 1), resulting in chimeric transcripts. The locus is associated with neuroblastoma, and produces at least two protein products that share identity with the NBL1 protein. The biological function and therapeutic relevance of the readthrough product itself are unclear; it does not appear to be a well-established drug target. Most functional descriptions and disease associations relate to the downstream NBL1 gene, which antagonizes BMP signaling.
