Microbial cell wall enzymes are a diverse group of proteins produced by bacteria, fungi, and other microbes that catalyze the synthesis, remodeling, or degradation of cell wall components. These enzymes are essential for microbial growth, division, morphogenesis, and adaptation to environmental stresses. They also represent key targets for antimicrobial agents due to their critical roles in maintaining cell integrity.
