MicroRNA 103b-2 is a small, single-stranded non-coding RNA molecule found in humans and other animals. Like other microRNAs, it regulates gene expression by binding to complementary sequences in target mRNAs, leading to mRNA degradation or suppression of translation. Its functions are inferred from broader miRNA research, including involvement in cellular homeostasis, development, and disease processes, especially oncogenesis. Direct functional annotation for MIR103B2 is scarce, but its classification is well established as an miRNA gene locus. Structurally and functionally, MIR103B2 shares conserved features with other miR-103 family members, but detailed, target-specific interactions and disease associations require further study. If studied directly, its function would be assessed in the context of gene regulatory networks relevant to human health and disease.
