Overview

MicroRNA-1225 (miR-1225) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the microRNA family that regulates gene expression at the post-transcriptional level by binding to target messenger RNAs and inhibiting their translation or promoting their degradation[2]. miR-1225 has been shown to function predominantly as an antitumor agent in several studies: Overexpression of miR-1225-5p in breast cancer cell lines results in decreased proliferation, survival, migration, and invasion. Its targets include LASP1, PEG10, and MYC—genes involved in cell signaling pathways relevant to cancer progression. miR-1225’s expression profile may serve as a potential biomarker for distinguishing breast cancer subtypes and and for early detection, though it is not currently a therapeutic target or druggable molecule in the classical sense[1][2][3]. No established drugs are known to target miR-1225 directly.
