Overview

MicroRNA 1244-3 (canonical: microRNA 1244-3, abbreviation: MIR1244-3), also referred to as hsa-mir-1244-3, is a human microRNA gene encoding a small non-coding RNA involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. It belongs to the family of microRNAs—short RNA molecules (approximately 20–24 nucleotides) that are broadly important in gene silencing, mRNA stability, and translational regulation in multicellular organisms. Its sequence, expression pattern, and biological roles are not well characterized in public biomedical literature or databases, and there is no evidence supporting its role as a therapeutic target or disease biomarker. MIR1244-3 is not considered a therapeutic target in the sense of being a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or directly druggable gene product; it is a member of the microRNA family, whose dysregulation may be associated with disease, but direct targeting of MIR1244-3 is not described. Mechanism of action

MicroRNAs in general act via RISC-mediated gene silencing, but there are no clinically established therapeutics targeting MIR1244-3 specifically. It generates a mature miRNA sequence via canonical miRNA biogenesis: it is transcribed by RNA polymerase II, processed by Drosha and Dicer nucleases, and incorporated into the RISC complex, leading primarily to inhibition of target mRNA translation or destabilization of mRNA. Like other miRNAs, MIR1244-3 participates in gene regulatory networks by binding complementary sequences, most commonly in 3’ UTRs of target mRNAs.
