Overview

MicroRNA 1245b is a short, non-coding RNA molecule (20-24 nucleotides) classified within the microRNA family and encoded in the human genome. Like other microRNAs, it is produced through canonical miRNA biogenesis involving Drosha and Dicer, is incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), and functions by binding (imperfectly) to target mRNA transcripts—most commonly in their 3' UTR—to modulate translation and stabilize mRNA. MIR1245B is predicted to participate in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression, but its precise biological roles, therapeutic relevance, and disease associations remain largely uncharacterized. It is affiliated with Herpes simplex virus keratitis and genital herpes by gene association but lacks mechanistic or functional studies supporting a drug target or biomarker role[1][3][4].
