Overview

MicroRNA 1255b-2 (MIR1255B2) is a human microRNA gene encoding a short, non-coding RNA molecule typically 20-24 nucleotides in length[1]. Like other microRNAs, it is transcribed as a primary transcript, processed by the Drosha and Dicer enzymes into a mature miRNA that is loaded into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), where it guides the complex to target mRNAs via imperfect base pairing, resulting in inhibition of translation or degradation of the mRNA[1]. MIR1255B2 is part of a paralogous cluster along with miR-99a and let-7c, and is implicated in tumor subtypes through differential expression patterns, notably in breast and multiple myeloma molecular subgroups[3][7]. While there is no direct evidence it is currently a defined therapeutic target, its regulatory role in gene expression and presence in pathways relevant to cancer suggest potential research relevance.
