Overview

MicroRNA 1260a (miR-1260a) is a small (20–24 nucleotide) non-coding RNA molecule encoded on chromosome 14q24.3. It belongs to the microRNA class and post-transcriptionally modulates gene expression by interacting with a large spectrum of mRNA targets, primarily by inhibiting their translation or destabilizing them[3]. Its abnormal expression has been reported in multiple cancer types, where it has potential utility as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker due to its ability to interact with oncogenic and tumor-suppressive pathways. In cancer, miR-1260a is associated with upregulation in tumors and correlates with proliferation, invasion, apoptosis, and immune response regulation. It also appears to interact with ribosomal protein family genes, implicating it in translation and tumorigenesis[1][3]. Drugs like Genistein modulate miR-1260b expression, suggesting miR-1260 family members might represent future targets for therapy[1].
