Target intelligence / Profile preview

MicroRNA 1263 (miR-1263)

Target
miR-1263
Molecular classification
microRNA, non-coding RNA
01

Overview

MicroRNA 1263 is a short (20–24 nucleotide) non-coding RNA molecule, part of a class of microRNAs that regulate gene expression mainly by destabilizing or inhibiting translation of target mRNAs[2]. It is transcribed from the human genome as part of a longer precursor molecule, which is processed by Drosha and Dicer enzymes to yield the mature form[2]. miR-1263 has been identified as highly enriched in definitive endoderm cells during differentiation of human embryonic stem cells and is a critical regulator promoting endoderm cell fate through repression of key pluripotency factors such as KLF4[1]. Its role in disease is not currently defined, and it is not known to be directly targeted by therapeutic agents or used as a clinical biomarker.
