MicroRNA 1265 (MIR1265)

Target
MIR1265
Molecular classification
microRNA, non-coding RNA, RNA (miRNA class)
01

Overview

MicroRNA 1265 is a small, non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the miRNA class. It is transcribed as a primary miRNA (~70 nucleotides), processed to a mature form (20-24 nucleotides), and incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), where it binds target mRNAs through imperfect base pairing to regulate gene expression by translational inhibition or destabilization of the mRNA. Its specific biological targets and regulatory roles are currently uncharacterized, but, like other microRNAs, it modulates gene expression post-transcriptionally in multicellular organisms. MIR1265 has been weakly linked by association to Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy, but no mechanistic studies or clinical applications have been established[1][5].
