Overview

microRNA 1267 (miR-1267) is a small non-coding RNA molecule, part of the microRNA family, which acts as a regulator of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. It primarily functions by binding to complementary sequences on target mRNA transcripts, leading to translational repression or mRNA degradation, typically as part of the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). Limited studies suggest that miR-1267 may play a dual role in breast cancer, acting as a tumor suppressor during early tumor development but potentially promoting invasion and metastasis in later stages. Its altered expression has been observed in several cancers, and it is being investigated as a molecular biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Currently, no drugs are known to directly target miR-1267, nor is it directly considered a traditional druggable target, such as a receptor or enzyme.
